Superfan Scarf

The super-fan scarf is a 10m long scarf that I made based on my collaborative project ‘Soft Skills’. Soft Skills is an ongoing skill-sharing project where I teach children how to design a ‘fan scarf’ for themselves and share basik design skills as well as lead conversations about personal goals, wishes and hopes for the future. The scarf that the participating children design, should be a personal talisman, a unique wearable item that brings them luck and cheers them on into the future. Each scarf that is designed during the workshop, later exist only as one unique object and is owned by the child that made it.

The long sentence on the scarf is a combination of quotes from the participants that attend my scarf designing workshops. The backside of the scarf shows a collage of the many illustrations and symbols that the children choose for the personal scarves.

The scarf says:

I want to have a home, a good job, be happy, have people I get along with, be able to handle rejections and change, I want to succeed, help others, live in peace, be afraid of nothing, grow from a snail to a strong and amazing phoenix and I wish to be a better person but also be myself
